Today, I Choose Joy

Take a few quiet moments, just for you. Begin slowly. Scroll when you’re ready.

Today can be a good day

Let’s take a moment to reset

Pause

Look away from your screen. Relax your shoulders, soften your jaw, and let your hands rest.

Breathe

Take three slow, comfortable breaths. Give yourself a moment with nothing to do.

Flowing yellow and muted green watercolor strokes with thin, sweeping lines.

Think

Who is someone you love. A place you enjoy. A small thing you’re looking forward to. Stay with that thought for a few seconds.

Smile

Even if you don’t feel like it, try a small smile. Then take your time exploring the ideas below.

Bright yellow watercolor splashes rising diagonally with light, playful strokes.

Joy is the gladness we feel when we connect with something good.

I choose joy by not giving up

There are good things I haven’t experienced yet. Conversations, adventures, and ordinary days that will surprise me. Remembering that helps me keep going.

I choose joy by making time for the people I love.

A conversation over dinner. A walk together. A few minutes of undivided attention. I want the people I love to have more than whatever time is left over.

I choose joy by noticing what’s already good.

A kind word. A familiar face. A beautiful evening. Paying attention helps me appreciate the good I might otherwise walk right past.

I choose joy by stepping outside.

A few minutes outside can change the feel of my day. I notice the breeze, look up at the trees, and remember there’s a whole world beyond what’s on my screen.

I choose joy by looking beyond this moment.

A difficult moment can fill my whole view. I try to remember the people, experiences, and possibilities that are also part of my life. There’s more to the story than what’s troubling me today.

I choose joy by making someone’s day a little easier.

I can listen, lend a hand, or check in on someone. Even a small kindness can become a moment of connection, and I often come away grateful for it myself.

How will you choose joy today?
